The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Movie)

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is the first installment of Stieg Larsson’s insanely popular Millennium trilogy. Since I talked about the book last week and watched the movie on Saturday, I decided to talk about the movie. Michael Nyqvist plays Mikael Blomkvist, a journalist who’s been accused of libel, and Noomi Rapace plays Lisbeth Salander, a troubled woman who just so happens to be a genius when computers are involved. Blomkvist is hired to investigate the disappearance and possible murder of Henrik Vanger’s niece. A while later, Salander joins him and what ensues makes for a great movie. This film is full of mystery, just like the book. The actors are great, and there’s never a dull moment. If you’re a fan of the book series, you have to see this movie!

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (Book)

I recently finished reading Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I think it is such a good book.  Mikael Blomkvist gets hired to look into the supposed death of Henrik Vanger’s niece Harriet. Eventually, Lisbeth Salander joins him. She is such a cool character. Some people on Amazon gave this book one star, and honestly, I can’t see why. This is a mystery novel, and there is plenty of it. While reading this first book in a trilogy, I was constantly thinking “What happened to Harriet?”  and wondering what if Lisbeth would ever open up to anyone. I haven’t seen the first movie yet, but I look forward to it.

The Avengers

I only recently  started watching The Avengers. I must say that while I have only seen the ones with Emma Peel, this show is great! Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) and John Steed (Patrick Macnee) had such chemistry together. Rigg and Macnee were perfect for these roles. I like seeing all the different outfits Emma Peel wore, and Steed was a proper British gentleman. The plots were great, and this is just such a fun show. If you haven’t seen The Avengers, watch it!

Don’t Torture a Duckling

I saw this movie the other day, and I really enjoy it. It’s nice to see a movie where you don’t know who the killer is until the end. I liked the suspense a lot. The pace of the movie moved along really well…it wasn’t too slow or anything. When three young boys are murdered in the small Italian village of Accendura, there’s a race to find the killer before he/she can kill again. There are multiple suspects, and I like that, because it keeps you guessing until you’ve figured it out. This was a great movie, and I look forward to seeing more of Lucio Fulci’s films!

Night of the Hunter

Night of the Hunter, starring Robert Mitchum, is a very good movie. Mitchum plays Harry Powell, a crazy religious man who marries a widow to try to find $10,000 that her husband stole in a robbery. She has two small children and Powell constantly asks them where the money is. This movie is full of tension and atmosphere, and Robert Mitchum plays the character so well. Night of the Hunter is a must for fans of the thriller genre!

Seinfeld

The scene opens upon Monk’s Restaurant…

I have to say, Seinfeld is, to me, one of the best shows of all time. Elaine, Jerry, Kramer and George…they all went so well together, kind of like peanut butter and jelly. I’ve seen almost every episode and I have enjoyed them all. I can’t say that I have a favorite character though. They all have something special about them. I wish there were still good shows like Seinfeld on today, but they’re all the same, and I don’t think Seinfeld could ever be replaced.
