The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

At first, I didn’t think I’d like this movie. I do enjoy video games, and after watching it, I have to say I enjoyed this movie as well. The story follows Steve Wiebe as he tries to beat and take the world record for Donkey Kong from Billy Mitchell. Steve Wiebe, I think, was so genuine in King of Kong. You could just tell that all he wanted to do was be able to hold the record for the best score, and he even cries, which pulls the viewer in and makes you feel sorry for him. He’s a school teacher, and such a down-to-earth kind of guy. To be honest, I didn’t like Billy Mitchell at all. I thought he was arrogant, and was scared because it took him so long to defend his record in a public setting. I hated how he constantly bragged…he just irked me.

The King of Kong is fun and has humor and tears. To me, when a movie can do that, it’s a good thing. I’m on Steve’s side all the way! This movie is great for those who love video games and their history.
