M*A*S*H was and still is…

a great show. We usually watch the reruns, just because it was a fun show, with emotion. M*A*S*H could make you laugh, and there were also some sad moments too, so it balanced out really well.

Vaudeville was a theatrical genre of entertainment in the United States and Canada from the early 1880s all the way up to the early 1930s. The origin of the term vaudeville is sometimes explained as being derived from the phrase “voix de ville”, meaning voice of the city.  The performances were made up of separate and unrelated acts grouped together. Types of acts included dancers, comedians, trained animals, magicians, impersonators, jugglers, acrobats, and more.

Vaudeville was developed from many different sources, including concert saloons, freak shows, dime museums, and burlesque. However, it eventually evolved into its mature form, known as Polite Vaudeville. Known as the “heart of American show business”, vaudeville was one of the most popular forms of entertainment for several decades.

Some were lured by bigger salaries and easier working conditions, including the Marx Brothers, Buster Keaton, W.C. Fields and Jimmy Durante. Some of those who joined in vaudeville’s later years were Jack Benny, Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jr., Red Skelton and the Three Stooges.

Final Fantasy

I recently started playing Final Fantasy XIII. It’s the first in the series that I’ve played, and it’s really the first real RPG that I’ve ever played. I will say that it does take some getting used to (just figuring out what everything does, which paradigm works best in certain situations, etc.) but so far, it has been fun. I absolutely love the graphics (they are amazing!) and the story…it just sucks you in. I’m on disc two right now, and even though I have had some trouble with certain battles, I look forward to learning the rest of the story.

Attack the Block

Attack the Block is an excellent movie. We watched it the other night.  It’s not your typical alien movie, because it stars a teen gang in South London who have to protect their block from an alien invasion. One of my favorite things about this movie is the accents they have. And, the aliens look really cool too. I also liked Pest’s granny magnet shirt. If this was an American movie, I think it would’ve sucked. Normally, I’m not interested in alien movies, but I figured I would see how it was, and I am glad I did. Some reviews on Amazon say it isn’t funny at all, but it is. There are references to Dobby the house elf, and more. This is a fast-paced, funny, very well made movie. See it if you haven’t!
